From Hilo you can reach the Volcano National Park very easily. Be aware that taxis are difficult to come by so it may be a good idea to stick with a pre arranged tour. Volcano National Park was a wonderful experience and we managed to get quite close to the flow of lava. The whole area is very surreal and is definately an experience not to be missed.
