Next to Venice Nice is my favorite port. You can get a bus right outside theport to Monaco and have a scenic 45 minute ride to Monaco for just a few Euros, or similarly you can go along the coast in the opposite direction. Nice iteself is great, whether you take a stroll along the promenade or duck in and out of the quaint market streets. My favorite place was the flowe market just a few yards in from the promenade, where we had the most fabulous meal in a typical French pavement restraunt watching the world go by. It is all within a brisk walk from the port or if you are lazy you can get a taxi for a few Euros.
