Royal Star seems to get lots of mixed reviews but we have just returned from an Indian Ocean cruise and had a wonderful time. She brings back the idea of cruising from the 30s before the floating tower blocks which now go under the name of 'cruise ships'. Being small you soon get to know everybody on board and the strangers on the plane when we went out were all friends on our return. The food was fantastic - how the chefs managed to present a varied seven course dinner for 200 every night was amazing! The entertainment team were polished and professional - far surpassing those I have seen on so called 'super liners'. The crew could not do enough to please - any request was dealt with immediately with a smile. If you go cruising for miles of corridors, long queues to get ashore, climbing walls and loads of glitz then Royal Star is not for you - but if you want good old fashioned courtesy and service, a friendly ambience and a feeling of being special (all the crew know your name, where your cabin is and your personal likes and dislikes) then you'll LOVE her!!
