I was lucky enough to be invited on the overnight launch party on the Ocean Village 2 in Southampton. To be honest I had only sailed on the Isalnd Escape in this class of ship and I was really surprised at what was on offer. I think for the price of the cruise, you get phenomenal value for money. The public areas where very large and would easily be able to accomodate eveyone when the ship was sailing full. We ate in 2 different restaurnats, the Plantation and the Waterfront. There was an excellent choice of food and a fantastic Ice Cream Bar in the Waterfront, well worth a visit! There was a great deal of choice at all meal times and a really good English Breakfast in the morning with proper bacon, not the streaky American kind. The spa onboard is something else, a real departure for this style of cruising, to have such a large and comprehensive spa, and the treatments where very reasonably priced. The bars where also really good. The Casbar was my favourite with that real Morroccan influence in the decor, and in Connections they do cabaret and comedy. The show was really quite good and very contemporary. It would appeal to a wide range of people. What I most liked about the show lounge (The Marquee) was that it has a bar at the rear and so has a really good atmosphere in the evenings, and also makes for a geat cabaret area after the shows as there is a small dance floor. We where lucky enough to have balcony cabins and I can honestly say that the size was really good. Plenty of hanging space and a decent sized shower! Overall the ship was really impressive and I would certainly choose to cruise on this particular vessel.
