The QE2 was not as small as i first thought she would be, and her decor is not as 'regal' for want of a better word. The decor through some areas of the ship is fairly plain which i just didnt expect. I'm not saying this in a bad way, i just mean she wasnt as 'grand' as i had imagined. Especially as i have travelled on the QE2's bigger sister, the QM2 and had her to compare to. Nonetheless, the ship had an unusual charm. By the time i disembarked, i had grown to like her alot. Our cabin had just enough room not to feel cramped and it boasted all the usual facilities. The Bromley wash range smelt wonderful and hung in the air thoughout the ship. We ate in the Princess Grill most nights, which was an intimate restaurant in an art deco style. The waiters really couldnt do enough for you and i have to say, the food is top notch - fit for a Queen! A couple of times we ate in the buffet which was suprisingly good and well needed after a long day onshore when we really didnt feel like dressing up for dinner. A real bonus compared to other cruise i've been on was that the deck areas were quite spacious and we didnt have trouble finding anywhere to sunbathe. The pool area is situated at the back of the ship and didnt get too busy either as there weren't many children onboard while we were sailing. We found the library and bookshop to be well stocked and kept us busy for most of the week. You can also buy some unusal little gifts in here. If you want to buy souvenirs, dont miss the Harrods shop although be warned you'll spend a fortune!! We spent very little time in the Theatre as we preferred the show lounge. We experienced some great entertainment and met some wonderful cruise companions here. (They make a mean Mojito cocktail in the lounge by the way) One of my favourite areas of the ship was the wall of fame - it shows photos of all famous past guests. There are many familiar faces like Margaret Thatcher, Elizabeth Taylor and Stan Laurel as well as many i didnt recognise at all! All in all i enjoyed my time onboard QE2 and am very privileged to have got a chance to sail on her before she retires abroad.
