We tried this for a weekender cruise to Bruges to see what all the money cost, also to find out if we could cope with an inside cabin - I have a psychological need to have a window. A few days before we sailed, P&O phoned up and gave us a free upgrade to an outside cabin. So, I still don't know what an inside cabin feels like! The restaurant had the best food that I had ever tasted; a fantastic menu with good selection of food for all tastes. The buffet restaurant was a bit chaotic however; It was not big enough for everyone and the breakfasts and afternoon tea were hit and miss - I've had much better on Thomson ships. The juice machines did not work properly and the staff were not interested in dealing with it. We had a disabled cabin with a wet-room for the bath/shower area - a good idea, why can't all bathrooms be like that on board? The beds were marvellous; I gather that Oriana has just been re-furbished with new beds, bedding and carpets. The cabaret was poor, surprising really as the Compere kept going on about how they had all been to drama school and passed numerous auditions to be there. What surprised me most was the number of hen and stag parties on board. The cheapest tickets were £3-400 and we still had these groups who spent all their time getting as drunk as possible in the shortest time allowed. No more short cruises for me whilst they are around.
