I was fortunate enough to get the chance to go on the Queen Victoria to have a look around with some fellow travel agents. I was bowled over by the beauty of the ship, this was my first ship visit and it was huge from the outside, when we got on the ship the atrium was striking very grand and glamorous with a lovely centre piece on the wall and sweeping staircases.
The stewards were fabulous nothing was any trouble for them they showed us around and were all smiles all the time. we looked around and went to the lido deck to have some champagne and nibbles, this was a lovely restaurant with huge bay windows that looked out over the sea and we had little rolls, pizza's and puddings with our champagne, the stewards served these out and made sure we were comfortable. The lido has a calming airy feel and its an informal dining room. We carried on looking around taking in the beauty of the ship, the finishings are lovely all wooden and marble effects to have a sophisticated feel, We came across the play zone next we couldnt go in but looked through the doors and they are full of comfy colourful sofas, games consoles and loads of games, children will have a fab time in here and never be board.
As we walked around the ship, i noticed the lifts have designs on the doors and theres walls of mirrors which i thought was a nice touch, we came across the Queen Victoria's grill area on deck 11 which has the Princess and Queens grill restaurants which are beautifully decorated in light woods and natural colours, the tables are beautifully set and looks very posh, you can see the courtyard from the grills restaurants and this area would be lovely to sit out on in the sunshine, it has lovely decking and beautiful table and chairs on here. There is also a grills lounge which is perfect for afternoon tea and cocktails with live entertainment.
We walked on to deck 9 and came across the winter garden this is light and airy and it has indoors and outside areas that have a really relaxing feel, it is a like a grand conservatory to chill out in, this area leads onto the spa and fitness area, i loved this part it was quite small but lovely and relaxing, it had steam rooms and saunas with beautiful tiling on the walls, the hydra pool was gorgeous with huge jets that spray out into the water and it is has flowers around the pool, and lots of wooden sunbeds with comfy cushions on them they were really comfortable. After this you come into the fitness area they have a huge gym on board that has huge bay windows so u can work out looking out over the sea which i thought was a really nice touch, they have all the gym equipment you could think of in here. There are also corriders of private treatment rooms that have all different treatment equipment and options in these and theres a spa shop you can buy all the different lotions and potions from.
We moved on to Hemispheres which is a lovely club, it had a piano band playing music in here, there is a huge wooden dancefloor with a huge chandeleir over the top which i thought looked lovely this was one of my favourite rooms on the ship, it has lots of seats around the edge and a huge bar in here ideal for dancing the night away, and nice relaxing daytime music. On the same deck there is the Admiral's lounge where you can relax and read a good book, and the Churchills cigar lounge where you can smoke in here, the room seats 11 guests so has a small homely feel it has a cupboard full of cigars from all over you can purchase, you can also purchase armagnac, cogna, port, madeira and scotch.
We walked onto the cabins, I was really impressed with the standard inside cabin i thought it was lovely and i would definatley stay in an inside cabin it was big enough to fit the double bed in and a dressing table in the corner the set up was lovely in here. the bathroom was a good size too. I looked at the balcony cabin next, the room was a good size with a large flatscreen tv on the wall infront of the bed and there was space to walk around the cabin, the bathroom was a good size again and it had a small balcony outside the patio doors, this had a table and chairs on here. The princess cabins have two beds a bathroom with shower, a living area, small kitchen and a verandah with table and chairs on here, the cabins range in size from 335 to 513 sq ft.
The queens cabins were fabulous, they were a really good size and i was amazed at the balcony on these they were huge! In the cabin you get two beds a bathroom a really good size, living area and huge verandah you can fit large table and chairs on here and there is space to sunbathe and walk around these balconies, you also get butler and concirege service on queens suites.
After we looked at the cabins we went into the brittania restaurant, this was huge it can seat 900 people and has two floors it has an intimate feel and is very grande and you get great waiter service in here, this restaurant is open to all guests. there are also a wide selection of restuarants like the todd english and Golden lion pub which offers good english grub and a great english feel.
There are coffee areas which are nice too especially the cafe carinthia and it offers coffee, hot chocolates, teas and freshly baked muffins, croisants and danish pastries. I also loved the champagne bar which was really stylish and good prices.
After all this we looked at the library which is huge, there is so much selection on books and its a nice quiet area to escape the hustle and bustle.
We went to the theatre which i was completely amazed at it has 16 private boxes which you can book to sit in and it has a royal circle at the top and plenty of seating down the bottom, we watched a show it was victoriana they were rehearsing for the big show to the grand opening and they were amazing it was like i was sat in a london theatre production i was awe struck and we watched atleast four songs, they got all the audience involved too gettin us to wave our arms and sing along, I could have sat here all day but we had to move on still so much to see.
We came across the casino which was huge i was surprised at this it had all the slot machines, and roulette and poker tables it was set up beautifully and i can imagine you could have alot of fun in here on a night.
There is also places called the Cunardia which is a charming room with leaded glass panels and canopies and it is a museum of memorabilia and artefacts that tell the story of the cunard line. We alos came across the Queens arcade which is a lovely parade of shops we didnt get to look in these as they were closed but from what i saw throught thw windows there was some lovely things and reasonable prices, you can pick up some nice souvenires in here.
All in all i thoroughly enjoyed myself and i didnt want to get off the ship when our time was up, i would definatley reccomend this ship to anyone who likes some class, glamour and relaxtion on a cruise.
