Having cruised on the QE2, I was giving the chance of being one the first people to board the Queen Victoria.
First impressions of the ship were great with the Grand Lobby being truly breathtaking & very classy which I guess is typical Cunard!
Having been on the QE2 I was familiar with Cunards standards & I was not disappointed, the cabins were all of adequate size from Inside to balcony grades but if you are looking for a cabin that is truly special I would recommend booking one of the Queens Grill grade cabins as I felt that the class of this grade really did outshine the other grades by a mile. The cabins were not as quirky as on the QE2 with all there different shapes & size but for what it lacked in character it made up in quality.
Had the pleasure of visiting all the restaurants & was very impressed in particular with the Britannia Restaurant which I found pleasing to the eye & quality throughout, the Lido restaurant (buffet dining option) was very large & offered great views from everywhere which is what the lido restaurant lacked on the QE2.
Finally I come to the Queens & Princess Grill Restaurants which I was a little bit disappointed with as I thought they were identical with the only difference being the colour of the room, of course still high quality just not very original!
I then looked around the pool area taking in the Winter Garden which I found very pleasant with loads of sofas & sun loungers to relax in when at sea..
If you’re looking to relax after your meal at night I would recommend going to Deck 10 as it offers something for all customers, visit the Commodore Club for nice drink & piano session or take in Churchill’s Cigar Lounge.
The final stop on my visit was taking in the Royal Court Theatre which I found rivalled many of the London Theatres I have been to. The theatre offered loads of space with plenty of balconies for better views
& the stage seemed really big, the theatre really is one of the main highlights on the ship & is must see.
My general view on the Queen Victoria is that it is very luxurious with class around every corner & you really do feel lucky to be on this ship. Certainly one of the classiest ships I have been on with great 5* service.
