As this was our 1st cruise, we really didnt know what to expect. My fianceé and I departed on the 29th of May for a week on the Island escape. Everything form the flights to the transfer to the ship 100%. Once on board we were greeted by our cabin steward Leaford who was fantasic, he was always there to sort things out for us, from laugage to cleaning our cabin which was kept immaculate everyday! credit were credit is due! We were pleasantly suprised once onboard, as i was abit skeptical about the ship. due to the fact island do not advertise their ships like P&O or RCI would do on the net, eg not too many photos of the ship. But it was really nice inside and very welcoming! All the staff were great, always had a smile when you met them! As with most cruises the shore excursions were slightly expensive, but its up to you wether you do them or not. We done every excursion on offer to make the most of our holiday, which was a bit hectic to be honest but very enjoyable! Food was excellent, plenty of choice! we also ate in the oasis resurant which many people complain about being to expensive! But if you call a 5 course a la carte meal for roughly £14 per person too expensive, then id like to know were you live if you can get it cheaper than that, i am a fully qualified Gourmet chef so i know good food when i see it as well as the sevice, and in my eyes it was definatly worth 5stars! The weather was fantastic for us, apart from pisa which for around 15mins there was a serious down poor, but once back at the ship the weather was great! So all in all we had an amazing time, so much so we hav just booked a fortnight for the 3rd of June 08 on the Escape again. We would highly recommend Island criuses for 1st time cruiser as well as second, if you dont want the hustle and bustle of bigger companies like RCI or P&O then this perfect for you! we rate this ship as well as the company 5 stars! i hope you enjoy this review, and sorry for making it so long!
