I was lucky enough to be invited to visit the P&O’s Ventura prior to her naming ceremony and I was really impressed by what I saw. The weather was not the kindest but the checking in procedure was seamless and once on board, there were plenty of staff to show us to our cabins. The cabin was very comfortable and I particularly liked the open wardrobe/dressing area which gave a feeling of space that I had not seen on other ships. The decor was restful and there were the normal nice touches like the tea and coffee tray but which was particularly stylish. We visited other cabins and were very impressed with the inside twin cabin which afforded much more room than you would expect in a cabin of that standard. We also saw a family cabin where the minimum occupation had to be 4 adults. This cabin had the benefit of 2 bathrooms and a sitting area. It was just a shame that there were not more of these cabins because I am sure they would be very popular in the summer with families wishing to take grandparents and the extended family. The public areas were very impressive as were the many and various restaurants. If you want a really special meal, there is the White Room, so called because of Celebrity Chef, Marco Pierre White who designed the menu for this restaurant. The kid’s area was fantastic but my only slight reservation from a parents perspective was the number of computer terminals to which the older children may gravitate! Food on board was very good and the service could not be faulted so all in all a very enjoyable experience.
