My husband and I are just back from spending a stay and cruise holiday on the ocean village. After spending a great week in the Grand Hotel in Stalis we joined the Ocean Village on the 14th aug for the olives and ouzo tour.The journey from the Hotel to the ship was about 25minutes and after going through the security at the port of Heraklion it was then onto the ship,we arrived on the ship as 1pm but you dont get your cabin until 3pm,so that gave us time to familiarise ouselves with the ship. After getting to our cabins we were surprised how spacious it was.We had an outside cabin but it had a restricted view but at least it let in daylight. The food was great, plenty of choice and very hot. The bar prices were much the same as pub prices,but thought the price of bottled water was expensive at£1.65 per 1.5litre.The bar staff were very friendly and always smiling The entertainment was quite good something to please most,the tribute acts were very good and so was Freedom to move an acrobatic act. We did'nt go on any of the offshore trips as we felt we could just go and do our own thing. Our first port of call was Limassol and there was a local bus at the port that takes you into the town for 1.5 euros. At Rhodes the port is right in town and it is full of shops within easy reach. The port at Kusadasi is within easy reach of shops and bars and the local taxis will take you to Ephesus for 40euros round trip. Santorini is a lovely Island,but to reach it you have to get there by cable car, donkey or a long walk up a steep hill but once you get there it has lots to see and do. Unfortunatley we were unable to go to Mykonos as it was too windy for the tender boats to take us ashore. I would recommend Ocean Village to anyone as I It is a great ship with a relaxing atmosphere and the staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
