I have recently returned from The Iberian Adventures cruise aboard the P&O Oceana and as a newcomer to cruising holidays, I must admit, I was very impressed with the whole experience.
After a leisurely embarkation the ship set sail from Southampton to the sound of classical music performed by a live quartet based at the port.
The first day at sea went a breeze as we made our way down to Vigo thanks to the multiple activities, facilities and services available on this luxury liner.
The following day We woke up to the sun shining in the very chilled spanish town of Vigo before heading to Lisbon, a very beautiful and cultured city and brilliant for shopping. That evening we participated in a cruise away party waving goodbye to Lisbon from the Jacuzzi, coctail in hand as we sailed beneath the Tagus river bridge. We then docked in the pleasant French town of La Rochelle, where we were blessed with good weather and a variety of trendy cafes to dine in. Our last port of call was the French town of Brest for a last spot of sightseeing and souvenir shopping.
The ship was fantastic, I have summarised our views below:
Food
I was told the food aboard cruise ships was plentiful and of a very high standard, and I was not dissapointed. Regardless of the time, day or night we could eat what we wanted and however much we wanted. The evening meals were of excellent quality and the service provided was exceptional.
Entertainment
Day or night there was always something going on onboard the Oceana, whether it be line dancing lessons in the afternoon or great comedy acts in the evening. With the quality of the shows in the evening you could be forgiven for thinking you were in Londons west end with the performers so talented and energetic.
Service
The sevice was impeccable throughout, from the cleaning of the rooms to the service of the food, the staff cannot do enough to help.
In conclusion to this I would highly reccommend the Oceana as a fantastic choice, whether your planning your 1st cruise or your 31st. The atmosphere aboard the ship was electric, the facilities innovative and the entertainment dazzling.
Truly a memorable trip
