A few weeks ago I sailed on the Island Star. Having never cruised before and not having the best of 'Sea Legs', one would imagine a cruise would not be the ideal choice for a holiday! However I was pleasantly suprised and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I had an outside cabin on Diamond Deck which was towards the front of the ship. It was absolutely perfect. The cabin was nice and spacious, with plenty of light.
The ship was always clean and tidy, with many thanks to the crew, who also were extremly friendly, had a smile from ear to ear and made sure we all were having a fantastic, but also relaxing time.
There were a variety of eating places aboard the Star, which were all truly delicious and not disappointing. There is something to suit everyones taste in food. As I for one can be funny with my food, but I cetainly ate to my hearts content! The Beachcomber and Island Restaurant are informal, buffet style eateries, which offered an aray of different cuisines throughout the week. However if you want that something little bit extra special then I would suggest try The Steakhouse or Oasis Restaurants which do have a cover charge but are definately worth it. Although take my advice and reserve your table early, as you may not get a place!
To top a truly excellent cruise off was the entertainment that we recieved throughout the day and in the evenings. During the day, especially when at sea Island cruise staff would play games, put on presentations, such as ice carving, which were all memorable in between relaxing by the pool and sipping cocktails. Then in the evening no matter where you went from The Pub, Harbour Cafe, the Ocean Theatre and Bounty club, there were singers, such as a Robbie Williams impersonator, cabaret acts and a disco to suit everybodies tastes.
All in all, from a non cruiser, I have to say I have now gained my 'Sea Legs' and can not wait to go on another!
