QE2-Norwegian fjords cruise 29 July 2006 In July this year I went on the QE2 Norwegian Fjords cruise. Im 25 and have never cruised with the Cunard Line before and the Queen Elizabeth 2 didn’t disappoint. When boarding the ship itself I found the staff very helpful and couldn’t believe the size of my cabin. Cabin: I had purchased a Category C2 single outside cabin and was amazed by how big the cabin was. I always found my room was immaculate when returning everyday and the overall service from the stewards was great. Food: I was dining in the Caronia Restaurant on a table of eight and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Made friends with everyone around the table and looked forward for my dinner everynight! I am quite a fussy eater but found the food exceptional with the silver service making you feel that much more special. Excursions: I only went on one excursion on the cruise which was a hike up the Bergen Mountains. Managed to get some great pictures but couldn’t feel my legs for the next two days. Oslo was abit disappointing as the weather was horrible (Lightening) and everything being abit expensive. Ship facilities: For a ship that is almost forty years old the facilities were really impressive. They had many different bars onboard which were all reasonably priced and great fun. The gym was of adequate size and the theatres were also good. The thing that makes this ship special is the Silver service dining, your not going to find an ice rink or a massive nightclub onboard but what you get is history and 5*service which you CANT get on a Royal Caribbean or Ncl ship. Overall I would recommend this ship to everyone just so you can say you’ve been on the QE2. It is a massive piece of cruising history and should be overlooked. The cruise itinerary was good but the Ship made my holiday special. Gavin
